Endorsement Process

Co-govern with OneAmerica Votes

OneAmerica Votes is a 501(c)(4) organization that seeks to elect pro-immigrant candidates, particularly those who are directly impacted. We make endorsements with the goal of increasing the power and voice of immigrant and refugee communities in government. We highly encourage BIPOC women and LGBTQIA+ candidates to apply for our endorsement but make endorsements of immigrant rights allies who do not identify as immigrants, women, BIPOC or LGBTQIA+ as well.

To be endorsed by OneAmerica Votes, candidates must demonstrate their commitment to work alongside us and deliver on the issues most important to our communities.

Our endorsement process is led by grassroots leaders from immigrant and refugee communities across Washington State. They interview candidates regarding issues important to their communities, evaluate the candidate responses and make recommendations to the OneAmerica Votes Board of Directors for review and affirmation.

2026 Primary Election Endorsement Process

If you would like to be considered for an endorsement by OneAmerica Votes, please fill out the candidate questionnaire by May 22, 2026.

Endorsement Process:

Grassroots leaders and board members will interview and review candidate questionnaires and make recommendations for endorsement to be approved by the OAV Board of Directors. Due to the finite amount of time that our members have together and OAV’s interest in targeting our endorsements, candidate coordinated or independent expenditure efforts, and PAC contributions, we cannot extend the process to every candidate running in 2026.

Expedited Endorsements:

If you’re a previously OAV endorsed incumbent running for re-election, we will be running a rolling expedited endorsement process for the primary. If you’d like to be included in our first round of expedited endorsements, please submit your questionnaire by end of day on April 13th. If you need more time, please submit your questionnaire by May 22nd to be considered for a Primary Endorsement.

Interviews:

A smaller group of candidates will be invited to an endorsement interview that will be conducted by grassroots leaders and OAV board members on Saturday, June 6th. The interviews will be conducted in person at OAV offices in Seattle, Yakima and Vancouver. If you do NOT qualify for an expedited endorsement and want to be considered for a Primary endorsement by OAV, please complete this form no later than May 22nd at 5pm. Endorsements will be voted on by the OAV Board of Directors.

Filling out this form will not guarantee endorsement. Our endorsement process includes filling out this questionnaire and attending an interview with OAV grassroots leaders, Board of Directors, and staff. If you’ve been previously interviewed by the organization, we may endorse you primarily based on this questionnaire.

If you have any questions about the process, please do not hesitate to reach out directly to OneAmerica Votes Deputy Director, Melissa Rubio, at 708-465-8285.
