OneAmerica’s staff have a deep commitment to build power with immigrant and refugee communities because of our own personal ties to this work. Many of us are immigrants or come from a family of immigrants.

Our team is composed of relational strategic thinkers who hold a breadth of skills from policy analysis, political strategy, leadership development and more.

Chief Executive Officer

Roxana Norouzi

Pronouns: She/her/hers

Roxana has 20 years of experience in organizing, advocacy and social justice work with immigrant and refugee populations. Now serving as OneAmerica Vote’s CEO, Roxana started with the organization 12 years ago, first as an organizing intern and then in 2012 as the Education Policy Manager.

In her role leading education work, Roxana built and developed a strategy to improve education for immigrant children and families through local and state policy advocacy, community organizing and leadership development with parents and youth. Which resulted in many policy wins and millions of dollars in additional funding for multilingual education. Over the last decade she moved OneAmerica through a transformational process to get further rooted in grassroots organizing, strategic policy campaigns and political power.

In addition to her role at OneAmerica Votes she is also a clinical instructor at the University of Washington in the School of Public Health. In 2010, after earning her Masters in Social Work at the University of Washington, Roxana was awarded the Bonderman Fellowship which allowed her to travel to twenty countries exploring post-conflict regions, migration trends, and identity. Roxana’s experience as a first generation American informs her passion and commitment to racial equity and immigrant justice.

Kawtharabdullah

Early Learning Campaign Manager

Kawthar Abdullah

Pronouns: She/her/hers

Kawthar joined OneAmerica in 2024. Kawthar joins us from New York City (NYC) where she has over two years of experience in policy and issue advocacy campaigns, and community organizing. As a daughter of Yemeni immigrants, Kawthar understands the importance of involving impacted communities in the political process.

She has worked with the Women’s Empowerment Coalition of NYC organizing around language access campaigns, district redistricting, increasing support for domestic violence survivors, and building power among different immigrant communities to lead in the fight for immigrant and women rights, social, political, racial, and economic justice. She has also worked on progressive political campaigns in NYC.

Now, leveraging her organizing experience and passion for community empowerment, Kawthar will be leading the OneAmerica Universal Childcare Campaign. Her primary goal is to ensure that immigrant and refugee needs are centered in the 2025 childcare legislation.

Outside of work, Kawthar enjoys spending time with her family and utilizing her organizing skills to advocate for antiwar policies with peace organizations such as the Yemeni Alliance Committee and the Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation.

Jordan Alcantara

Jordan joined OneAmerica Votes in January 2021 and works to keep the organization’s day-to-day operations running smoothly.

She is a daughter of Chinese-Malaysian and Filipino immigrant parents and centers her work at OneAmerica around celebrating the unique and diverse gifts that immigrants bring to their communities. In providing operations support, she aims to ensure that staff and leaders have the tools they need to move OneAmerica’s important work forward.

In her free time, Jordan enjoys trying challenging baking recipes, tending to her houseplants, traveling, and eating good food with loved ones.

Andrick joined OneAmerica Votes in July of 2023 and is proud to make the change to an oganization that is focused around helping immigrant communities.

As a son of Mexican immigrants, Andrick wants to empower those who have just came to this country and make sure they have a voice. With years of experience in corporate HR, Andrick will contribute to the internal structure of such an amazing team and will commit to ensure they are fully supported.

In the time with past roles, Andrick has been part of teams that process Payroll, Accounts Receivable/Payable and has Recruited/Onboarded Candidates from all over the nation.

In his free time, Andrick enjoys watching dramas, cooking for friends/family, and listening to new music to hopefully see the artist live at a venue around Seattle.

Bianca Davila

Bianca joined OneAmerica Votes in 2022 and focuses on our internal work and strategy to support our platforms by leading our operations, Human Resources, and finance.

As the daughter of an immigrant, as a parent raising a bilingual child, and as an educator who spent nearly a decade working with immigrant communities, OneAmerica Votes work is incredibly important to Bianca on a personal level. She hopes to create and support internal operating and cultural structures that empower OneAmerica Votes staff to lead with confidence.

Bianca began her professional career as an educator in Houston, Texas where she taught bilingual Spanish English elementary school. She went on to become an Assistant Principal where she helped to lead her school to be the highest performing elementary school nationwide out of nearly 300 schools within the KIPP network. Most recently, she worked as the Chief of Staff at The Learning Accelerator, a national nonprofit leader in the education sector.

In her free time, Bianca enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and hiking.

Nora Fogarty

Nora joined OneAmerica Votes in 2023, bringing nearly a decade of experience in progressive and nonprofit organizations and PAC fundraising. She works to build power in immigrant and refugee communities through donor outreach and relationship-building.

Nora grew up in the Pacific Northwest and is deeply rooted in the Oregon and Washington state communities. Her passion lies in building a better and more compassionate society for all and helping to uplift those historically left out of power-building and leadership conversations. She believes in the powers of empathy and storytelling to make change and bring us together.

She has led individual giving and partnership program efforts to raise nearly three-quarters of a million dollars annually, including gifts of 4-, 5- and 6-figures. She has also conducted fundraising trainings for board and leadership candidates, led membership recruitment and retention efforts and spearheaded publications and transparency initiatives in past roles. Most recently, she served as Development Director with the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, working to advance access to civil justice for Oregonians.

Outside of the office, Nora teaches traditional Irish dance and enjoys spending time with her spouse and family, walking her dog, reading as much as possible and making plans for future travels.

Eli Goss

Eli joined OneAmerica Votes in 2018 and runs the policy and advocacy strategy across immigration, education, early learning, economic justice and voting reform at both federal and state levels for the organization.

Their passion is making advocacy and government lobbying accessible and transformative for activists to make the policy change needed for communities to thrive. Originally from Texas, they moved to WA over 10 years ago and have been doing community organizing, lobbying and electoral work around progressive issues since then. Eli is proud of helping organize for over $340 million in COVID relief with undocumented workers along with funding for dual language classrooms, naturalization programs, and refugee assistance. Eli believes that building strong social movements is critical to passing bold policies that make a meaningful and tangible differences in peoples’ lives.

In their free time, Eli loves to eat BBQ, be part of their queer chosen family, and dabble in various creative pursuits.

Joeljohnson

Organizing Director

Joel Johnson

Joel joined OneAmerica Votes in 2023 to lead a robust organizing program that supports grassroots leaders across the state in organizing to win Our Thriving Home Platform. As a person who experienced foster care and adoption, Joel understands experiencing being torn from one’s family and relates to the ongoing ways that immigrant and refugee families continue to be torn apart as a result of our broken immigration system.

While starting out as an organizer in 2008, Joel along with other activists, were wrongfully arrested and maliciously prosecuted while organizing for comprehensive immigration reform. The activists fought the infamous anti-immigrant former Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County Arizona and subsequently prevailed in the landmark civil rights case. Since then, Joel has organized in over 20 states across the country fighting for social and economic justice. Most notably aiding displaced Toys ‘R’ Us workers to win 22 million in family hardship funds as well as the recognition of cannabis workers’ rights by the National Labor Relations Board.

When not organizing, Joel enjoys being a pet parent and taking walks by the water and in the woods!

Immigration Advocacy Manager

Soumyo Lahiri-Gupta

Pronouns: He/him/his

Soumyo (shoh-moe) joined OneAmerica Votes in 2023 and works to devise and execute our policy strategy and portfolio on immigrant rights from the perspective of immigrant and refugee communities.

A proud child of two Indian-American immigrants, Soumyo has seen how immigrants are treated, both from an outside and inside perspective, and pushes to make a future where immigration at every level is normalized, accepted, welcomed, and streamlined. From burdensome processes to unjust regulations, he hopes to reform our current immigration system and advance immigrant integration across the nation.

Soumyo first started his activism and advocacy work at the age of 12, phone banking for President Obama’s 2008 campaign. Since then, he has been involved in every election in his life. In 2022, Soumyo helped lead the field operations in Washington’s 3rd Congressional District which resulted in flipping a congressional seat. Soumyo graduated with his J.D. in 2021 from American University where he worked as a Student Immigration Attorney.

In his free time, Soumyo enjoys testing his stand-up material at various open mics.

Mary Monaghan

Mary joined OneAmerica in 2023 and oversees the end-to-end finance operations and prepares financial analyses for directors and board members.

The work of OneAmerica is of paramount significance. Mary aspires to establish and bolster internal financial and operational frameworks that enable OneAmerica’s team to lead with assurance.

Development Administrative Assistant

Kimmy Nguyen

Kimmy joined OneAmerica Votes in September 2022 and helps build and advance the Development Acknowledgment Vision by providing administrative support in databasing donations and sending gift acknowledgments.

Kimmy brings experience working in youth development at local nonprofit organizations. She also currently works at School’s Out Washington as the Best Starts for Kids Administrative Coordinator where she supports the Expanded Learning initiative, coordinating grantmaking and programmatic administrative projects. Before working at SOWA, she worked at Asian Counseling and Referral Service where she facilitated afterschool programming for Southeast Asian immigrant and refugee youth.

As a daughter of Vietnamese immigrants, her family has shaped her values in learning and community. She is a passionate and curious learner that seeks opportunities to provide under-resourced communities with resources to reduce health and social inequalities. She enjoys learning about different cultures and connecting through storytelling and food. In her free time, Kimmy enjoys reading, traveling, getting boba with her friends, relaxing with her family, and taking too many pictures of her corgi puppy.

Marisa Parshotam

Marisa joined OneAmerica Votes in 2020. In her role she coordinates online English classes & programming that combines English, digital literacy, leadership, and community engagement.

Marisa’s passion for community organizing & language justice was shaped significantly during her time at an adult education non-profit and alongside grassroots BIPOC leaders of Lake City Collective in North Seattle. Her experience working directly with immigrant and refugee communities from a wide range of backgrounds guides her work to collectively build power, opportunity, and equity in our communities. As the daughter of a South African of Indian descent immigrant, Marisa is also inspired by her family history of activism and organizing to fight systemic racism, white supremacy, and oppression during the apartheid regime.

Throughout her time at OneAmerica, Marisa has worked alongside her team to shift the English Innovations Program to a virtual model, reaching over 200 students in over 35 cities across Washington State – and building a powerful program that takes a holistic approach to students’ goals, centering lived experiences, honoring home languages, building community, leadership development, and redefining what the adult education system can be.

In her free time, Marisa enjoys drawing, painting, writing, and reading.

Gabyrodriguez

Washington New Americans Civic Engagement Associate and Organizer

Gabriela Rodriguez

Gaby Joined OneAmerica in February of 2023 as a WNA Ambassador before becoming a full time Civic Engagement Associate and Organizer in February of 2024. She now runs the ambassador program and strives to organize our newly naturalized citizens in order to uplift their voices and build immigrant power. Her dream is to see all of our immigrant communities unite and realize that together we can influence our government to make positive changes for all.

As a Mexican immigrant and a mother of 3 kids, Gaby has a passion for her heritage and culture and wants to see the younger generation embrace their community’s uniqueness without fear. Her desire to see immigrants thrive is what keeps her dedicated and motivated.

In her time at OneAmerica, Gaby has led our community leaders to lobby at our state capitol alongside OneAmerica to demand support for things like dual language implementation in our state. She has also provided logistical support for all of our WNA citizenship clinics and has grown the ambassador program from 4 to 10 new members in a widespread geographical reach.

In her free time, Gaby enjoys watching her kid’s soccer tournaments, traveling, dancing and cooking.

Melissa Rubio

Melissa joined OneAmerica Votes in 2020 and is the architect of how our organizing, leadership development, civic engagement and advocacy programs work together to make lasting, systemic changes for the immigrant and refugee communities in WA State.

Melissa comes from a mixed-heritage, working class family and is dedicated to building power so that all people, regardless of age, race, immigration status and income are able to live full, joyous and thriving lives.

Melissa has been instrumental in building OneAmerica Votes power building program that centers those furthest from power as decision-makers in our electoral and issue organizing work.

Eiman joined OneAmerica Votes in 2023 and works as the English for Afghan Newcomers Coach. An immigrant to the US, she has a passion to work and provide services for refugees and immigrants.

Since arriving in the US, she has worked with immigrants and refugees in various roles, such as Dari and English interpreter or digital literacy tutor. She believes in bringing change to the lives of immigrants and refugees by giving them self-confidence and speaking for their rights.

In her free time, she plays with her children and cooks special meals for her family.

As a former English Language Learner and high school teacher, he is passionate about working to build a more just public education system, especially for immigrant and refugee populations.

Radu holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Washington with a focus in Education Policy. He is an active member in his Romanian community and an avid basketball fan.

Magaly Smith

Magaly joined OneAmerica Votes in 2019 and works to amplify pro-immigrant narratives and the voices of our grassroots leaders to move people into action to build immigrant power.

As the daughter of Guatemalan immigrants, Magaly strives to use her power and positionality to build a world where her family, and immigrant communities, are valued and no longer live in fear. She hopes to equip others with communications and storytelling skills that will enhance their power and ability to win on issues most important to them and that will lead to our collective liberation.

In her time at OneAmerica, Magaly has led powerful communications campaigns that won $340 million in COVID relief for undocumented community members. She also led communications on a series of statewide rallies calling for a path to citizenship that were highlighted in local, statewide and national news.

In her free time, Magaly enjoys watching Korean drama shows, reading, and spending time with her family.

Fundraising Manager

Margaret (Maggie) May Treichler

Maggie joined OneAmerica in March of 2024 and works as our Fundraising Manager, where she not only raises funds for the organization, but also works to amplify the voices and stories of immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers whose stories often go unheard.

Maggie’s heroes are Mother Theresa, Greg Boyle, and her mom – 3 people who taught her to lead with love, and the power of love as a tool to change the world.

This year Maggie is working to DOUBLE our OneAmerica Votes membership base, and in turn continue empowering individuals from our community to get involved in our work to create the world we want to see. Not a member yet? Reach out and she’ll tell you how to get started.

Maggie works out of Yakima, where she also acts as the Vice President of NAMI Yakima, a local branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

When she’s off the clock, Maggie can usually be found building a puzzle or Lego set, or snuggling with her cats – Marble, Guy Fieri, and Grumpy Gil.

Cristina Vazquez

Cristina is the English Innovation Coach in the beginning class. She joined OneAmerica in 2020, and before that she was a student of this program. Cristina is from Mexico, and she moved to the USA in 2010.

She wants for her students to learn, practice, and gain confidence speaking in English and get involved in the community, because she knows that when you move to another country and you don’t speak their language you feel that you are not a part of the community. She is interested in helping her students to grow in their skills, make changes and became leaders with OneAmerica.

She enjoys dancing, walking with her dog, and spending time with her family.

Zurita Pinacho Glicerio Scaled Aspect Ratio 1 1

Vancouver Community Organizer

Glicerio Zurita

Glicerio brings years of organizing experience to OneAmerica, where he has been involved for 8 years. His first foray into advocacy and organizing came as a result of the Secure Communities (Data-sharing program between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.), which had an adverse effect on the immigrant and refugee community. Seeing his friends and family suffer under this policy showed Glicerio the importance of advocating for the families of immigrants and refugees.

As an organizer, Glicerio has led and participated in rallies across Washington State to inform elected officials about the issues that affect the immigrant and refugee community. He has built power within the community by getting everyday members involved in politics through candidate discussions and endorsement sessions and making sure that the community holds politicians accountable for their votes,

In his spare time, Glicerio likes to play the guitar.

Guillermozazueta

Lead Field Organizer

Guillermo Zazueta

Pronouns: He/him/his

Guillermo joined OneAmerica in 2024 as Lead Field Organizer and works to manage our voter education, registration and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) year-round programming in order to bolster our voting and political power in Washington State.

As a first generation Mexican American, son of two immigrants and upbringing in a working-class family, Guillermo’s passion for ensuring a vibrant, thriving home for immigrants and refugees stems from a core belief that societal change must be made by mobilizing communities to the ballot. He holds an unwavering commitment to the principles of dismantling white supremacy, institutionalized racism, dark money in politics, and electing leaders who truly represent our most disadvantaged communities.

Guillermo brings a wealth of experience in his capacity as a local community and electoral organizer, having led a local ballot initiative to raise the minimum wage in Renton, WA to the highest in the nation, working as an enumerator for the 2020 Census, and as Field Director for Stephanie Gallardo’s Campaign for Congress in 2022.

In his free time, Guillermo enjoys tending to his home garden growing veggies and flowers, kayaking on South Lake Union and spending time with his family.
