OneAmerica Votes advocates for local, state and national policies that promote democracy and justice, build connections among grassroots communities leaders across race and ethnicity, and builds the political capacity and leadership of people of color in marginalized communities across Washington State.
Protecting Families and Communities
Our communities need to feel safe in seeking out local law enforcement for help if they need it. But harmful federal policies and practices encourage local law enforcement to collaborate with immigration enforcement authorities. In King County, Skagit County, Seattle and many other local jurisdictions, we’ve passed laws to ensure that local police will never ask about our communities’ status, to protect basic principles of due process, and to never collect or share unnecessary information with ICE, and we’re only getting started!
Humane Immigration Reform: A Pathway to Citizenship for All!
OneAmerica Votes advocates for just and humane immigration reform that will create stronger and healthier communities by achieving the following policy goals: Keep all families together by creating a roadmap to citizenship; reunite families; create a sensible worker program with protections; ensure humane treatment; respect safety in immigration enforcement; promote immigrant integration; and support gender equity.

Ensuring Fair and Equitable Representation for All Communities
The Washington Voting Rights Act (WVRA) will ensure all communities have a fair chance to elect candidates of their choice in local elections. For government to be accountable, all voices need to be heard. But some election systems prevent all neighborhoods from being represented in local government. The WVRA empowers local governments to fix this widespread problem, and communities are fighting hard to ensure it passes in the Washington State Legislature.
